Review: Wow - that was a surprise. The trailers had me believe that after the Battle of LA and forgetfulness would be another sad, action-packed, special effects driven sci-fi blockbuster about an alien invasion - have failed to deliver what the trailer is almost exclusively that lasts too long, it is also pleasing almost as much humor as Groundhog Day. To invite comparison with Harold Ramis / Bill Murray classic was evident, due to the assumption of the time loop, but I never anticipated the extent to which these comparisons are indeed valid, and that this movie really get into the same kind of comedy. Fortunately, all of the sudden a good it.Most all, the main reason for the humorous aspects of the first half of the film work so well is Tom Cruises' character, Major William Cage. It easily Cruises meatiest role since his turn as Frank Magnolia TJ Mackey; forgets his usual stern poster boy characters: here he plays a completely different character? and it really seems to Relish the opportunity. I wont give away too much, but be ready to giggle and laugh when you see a new side of Tom Cruise.Yet although it is not nearly as bleak as the trailer suggested, it is not really a comedy either. And it absolutely is an action-packed, special effects driven sci-fi blockbuster about an alien invasion struggles (on the trailer got that right), but the funny bone and the great characters. Speaking of which, most of the rest are also very good, especially the beautiful Emily Blunt. It seems that no matter what she does, she always comes across as genuine and real; behold, it is to succeed in portraying his character - tough, experienced fighter other soldiers called full metal dog (no kidding!) - just the right touch of vulnerability to her that much more likely. Bill Paxton and Brendon Gleeson is always a welcome addition to any film, and while they are great (as usual), character-wise, that they can not do anything here that you havent seen them do before. As sci-fi show, the trailer promised, that they are happy to announce that the film presents. The battle scenes beautifully orchestrated (not Transformer-style blur, where you can not make out anything else), and there are moments when Anti intensity reminiscent of Omaha Beach landing Saving Private Ryan - no Gore, of course (after all, this is a PG- 13). The production design in general - | - alien design is very well done, though I was lying if I said that it was something new and innovative way for the first Matrix was (this is breathtaking, though) So, my verdict:. With one of the inventive (adapted) original scripts (mega-budget) film for a long time, and the best we've seen Tom Cruise the edge of tomorrow giggle and laugh almost as much as to drop your jaw and fear: what Hollywood has to accept as a fun summer pastime of the project so far. 9 stars out of 10.Favorite Movies: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls054200841/ |
